Shielding The Front Line

By May 4, 2020 No Comments

Sensity is grateful to the Proietto family of Caledon for a donation of much-needed face shields.

The first 51 face shields arrived at the Resource Centre the week of April 27 and another 100 are on their way soon.

The faces shields are made using 3D printing and the latest in 3D technology.

“It's a simple design but works,” says Fernando Proietto, who reached out to Sensity with the donation.

In response to the novel coronavirus pandemic, the Proietto family is following the recommendation to practise social distancing and stay home. But Fernando says they wanted to do more for the “health care heroes” on front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic. Recognizing a shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE) they put their 3D printing expertise to work producing the face shields.

In addition to Sensity, face shields have also gone to the Headwaters Health Care Centre in Orangeville and the Region of Peel community donor program, with others pending.

The Proietto family’s connection to Sensity is Luca’s parents, Elena and Marco Rosati. Elena and Marco drove to Paris to deliver the first shipment of face shields.

All the face shields produced by the Proiettos are free. They’ve started a GoFundMe campaign to help cover the costs of the materials.
