Happy Deafblind Awareness Month!
June marks the beginning of Deafblind Awareness Month—a time to celebrate, raise awareness, and uplift the voices of individuals who are deafblind.
At Sensity, this month holds a special place in our hearts. It’s an opportunity to shine a light on the strength, resilience, and individuality of the people we support every day, and to share why this work matters so deeply.
Why Deafblind Awareness Month Matters
Deafblindness is a unique disability that impacts how a person experiences and connects with the world. It is often misunderstood or overlooked, which is why awareness is so important. This month gives us the chance to foster understanding, break down barriers, and highlight the importance of accessibility, inclusion, and human connection.
For us at Sensity, Deafblind Awareness Month is about more than awareness—it’s about celebration. It’s about recognizing the achievements, independence, and meaningful lives of individuals who are deafblind, and the communities that support them.
Who We Are
Sensity supports individuals who are deafblind by providing Intervenor Services, which connect people to the world around them through communication and access to information. Our trained intervenors act as a bridge, helping individuals navigate their environments, build relationships, and live full, engaged lives.
Every day, we get to witness incredible moments of connection—whether it’s someone learning a new skill fostering their own independence or attending a community event and breaking out of isolation. These moments are what drive our mission forward – and we want to share them with you.
How You Can Celebrate With Us
There are many ways to get involved this month and help amplify deafblind awareness:
Looking Ahead
As we kick off Deafblind Awareness Month, we’re filled with excitement and gratitude—for the individuals and families we support, for our dedicated staff and partners, for all our donors and supporters, and for a community that continues to grow in understanding and compassion.
Together, we can build a more inclusive world where everyone is seen, heard, and supported.
Join us this June as we celebrate, learn, and make a difference.
